The roulette wheel is a wonder of technology and wisdom and has been of significant interest to gamblers for a couple of years now. Behind it's simple design lies a difficult arrangement of numbers and characteristics, placed in just the right way to guarantee the random element of the play.

The wheel is fundamentally a large bowl with slanted walls falling to categorize compartments, which are just large enough to hold the marble once it comes to rest. These sections, or pockets, are colored alternately black and red, with the '0' pocket colored as green.

While the figure arrangement around the roulette wheel is the main predictor of randomness in Las Vegas, acting online is a little not the same. Where the ball lands in an online roulette wheel is wholly dependent upon a chunk of software called a Random Number Generator (RNG).

An online casino's RNG is quite similar to an RNG chip found inside a slot machine. It originates thousands of random numbers each and every second, and those random numbers are extracted when an event happens (such as a roulette wheel being spun) and afterward mapped to an end result (the ball landing on 14), via a group of rules that match to the odds for a game. This way you get randomness and appropriate odds, precisely what you require for a proper game.

When you play roulette online, some of the additional hassle of the game is detached. You no longer need to attend to the dealer to see if you can bet or not (saving some possibly embarrassing cases of betting too late). You also do not have to worry about accidentally under-betting on the inside bets.

We get asked all the time. "What's the difference between an American and a European roulette wheel?" An American roulette wheel has an extra slot - '00'. A European roulette wheel has the numbers 1-36, plus a slot for zero. This extra slot on the American wheel means that the odds of winning are slightly worse on an American wheel.

On both wheels, you may think that there is no rhyme or reason as to how the numbers are arranged, but there is. the numbers are arranged this way so that the odds of landing on high, odd, low or even numbers are evenly distributed. The zero and double zero numbers are in green and on opposite sides of the wheel, the colours and odd/even numbers alternate, and the numbers themselves are randomly distributed.

Also, in European and English casinos there is an option to use the en prison rule. This allows the gambler, if the zero comes up, to either surrender one half of their outside wagers or to leave them for the next game.
